Eagle Owl

Eagle Owl

Bubo bubo

Identification

The Eagle Owl Bubo bubo is the largest nocturnal bird of prey in Europe.

It has two plumes over its head, reminiscent of two “ears”, which are not visible during the flight, are kept more erect when the bird calls or is disturbed, and horizontal when it is relaxed or anxious.

His eyes, which are very large, are orange. The plumage is brownish-yellow with a ‘fluffy’ aspect, as it is very dense. The facial disc is grey-brown and the upper parts are brown.

The female is bigger and heavier than the male.
