Cervus elaphus
The coat colour of adults varies from the darkest brown in winter and the reddish brown in summer; the young have white dorsal spots which favours camouflage.
The short tail is brownish / yellowish and the anal shield is yellowish. The main characteristic that allows the distinction between males and females is the absence of frames in the females, as well as their smaller dimensions and weight.
